Long Awaited Tv Event : Midwinter Of The Spirit

The long awaited tv adaptation of one of Phil Rickman’s novels will finally make it to the small screen this coming  week in the UK. (Coincidentally- or not, the release date is 23/9 the equinox) There is a lot of buzz on the Phil Rickman Appreciation Society  Facebook group (Phil posts on it himself regularly) and some advice on how we will be able to watch it here, I suspect the DVD is in the wrong zone. Pretty sure we will get it on ABC later in the year, as they love that sort of stuff. The 3 part miniseries stars Anna Maxwell Martin  as Merrily and is guaranteed to be a major hit. Phil Rickman himself is very pleased with this adaptation. It’s been about 15 years since I first found his early novels in the library and I feel so lucky to have read all the Merrily Watkins novels in sequence as they were released. What a ride it has been and now he is finally ready to make the transition from cult author to household name !

From ITV Studios Midwinter Of The Spirit on ITV Pictured: Rev. Merrily Watkins [Anna Maxwell Martin]. Merrily is deeply human in her doubts and scepticism, but her knowledge of the paranormal underworld brings her to the notice of local police who need her advice in the investigation of a grisly murder.
